15 COMPULSORY SPORTS SET TO FEATURE IN 2026 COAL CITY GAMES.

The National Sports Commission, NSC, has officially declared that the fast approaching 2026 National Sports Commission tagged Coal City Games, scheduled to hold in Enugu, will feature 15 compulsory games, just as that the host state have the luxury of  adding 5 other sports.
The compulsory sports that will feature at the Coal City Games include Athletics, Para Athletics, Badminton, Para Badminton, Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, Football, Judo, Gymnastics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Para Table Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, Mixed Martial Arts, Weightlifting, Para Powerlifting and Wrestling.
In a statement signed yesterday by Kola Daniel, Special Adviser, Media, Office of the Director General NSC, shortly after the first Main Organizing Committee, MOC , in Abuja, the Director General of the Commission, Honorable Bukola Olopade, also hinted that the competition will break and set a record of being the best sponsored and funded championship in the history of the games in the country.
The DG further announced that the games will hold from 27th November to 11th December, 2026, while hinting that the final dates were agreed upon following a productive and fruitful meeting he had with the Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Peter Mbah.
Honorable Bukola also explained that as part efforts to enhance sports development through the Renewed Hope Initiative on Sports Economy, RHINSE, the Commission have decided to reduce the number events in this year’s edition of the National Sports Festival.
