OBUMUNEME ONYIA HINTS ON DEVELOPMENT OF BASKETBALL IN ENUGU STATE.

Former Ebun Comet and Customs Basketball Player, Obumneme Onyia has stated that with a better conducive atmosphere, facilities and financial support, basketball talents from Enugu State and South East region have the potentials to be best anywhere in world, stressing that he is passionate about development and well-being of young people.

The Enugu State born indigene who currently is based in United States who spoke exclusively to Power Sports correspondent, at the closing ceremony of the second edition of Nemenwa Basketball Camp at the weekend inside the Indoor Sports Gymnasium Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

According to him, the participation and turnout for this year’s camp was massive compared to the number they had last year, while expressing gratitude to everyone that played a part in the success of the program.

Also Speaking, Cordinator of the Nemenwa Basketball Foundation and Enugu State Basketball Team, Chiedozie Nwoye, hinted that the year’s event witnessed coaches and players from different parts of the country participating, reaffirming that such kind of programs will improve and develop players.

One of the outstanding player from the camp, Light Diala reflects on the positives and the overall impact of the program on the players, noting that hard work, dedication and discipline are factors to greatness.

In her words, Eneh Joy another beneficiary from the program, reiterated that partaking in her first camp, is indeed one experience is will continue to cherish, and also thanking the sponsor for investing in the game.

To this end, over 120 kids between the ages of 12 to 20 from different parts of the metropolis and beyond took part in the three-day activities as some outstanding players were rewarded with jersey and playing shoes after the all star game.
