Chairperson, Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs. Sabina Chikere has attributed the victory and overall performance of Bendel Insurance Football Club at this year’s edition of the Federation Cup to sheer determination, dedication and commitment, stating that sports will continue to get its required attention in the state.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the match in Asaba, Delta State, the chairperson expressed gratitude to God for achieving such a feat, appreciating the state government for its immense financial and moral support and also supporters and fans for their loyalty and understanding,
According to her, the team will not be carried away by the victory and excitement rather they will be restrategizing ahead of the enormous challenges in the forthcoming season.
In his words, Technical Adviser of Rangers International FC, Abdul Makaiba, congratulated his opponents, hoping that they will give the country a good representation in next season’s CAF continental games.
With this victory, Bendel Insurance popularly called “the Benin Arsenals” ended a long spell that has lasted more than 30 years without a trophy, to claim their 4th FA Cup by defeating Enugu Rangers 1-0 in a pulsating encounter.
