The new technical Adviser of Rangers International of Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu has emphasized that his primary target is to return the club to the echelon of domestic football in the country, expressing optimism concerning the level of preparations ahead of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League, NPL, Season.

He made this declaration recently after the team’s screening session at the Liberty Estate, Independence Layout.

According to him, the ongoing screening exercise has been good, competitive and exciting as invited players from within and outside the state have shown a lot of prospects and potentials, hinting that by next week the team will go into another advanced level of preparations.

The vastly travelled tactician frowned at the current financial and economic state of the country, suggesting that an abridged league format would not be the best for the players and clubs in the country because of the cost implications.

On his part, a Member of the Screening Committee and National Chairman, Enugu Rangers Supporters Club, Dr. Ilokasi Orji, explained that the exercise has being top-notch because of the standard and quality of players involved, while applauding the Management of the club on the appointment of an experience Coach.

Reflecting on the plans of the supporters’ club ahead of the forthcoming season, the medical expert hinted that they are not solely depending on the state government for finance, rather they have been engaging several individuals, businesses and corporate bodies for sponsorship.

It would be recalled that Enugu Rangers, did not partake in the Super Six Championship because of their the 8th position finish in last season’s league, and also could not clinch a continental slot due to the loss in the final of the Federations Cup in Asaba, Delta State.
