Golden United Football Club of Abakpa emerged winners of the second edition of the Okodochukwu Under-15 Street Football Championship by defeating Asata United 3-2 in a pulsating and thrilling final game yesterday, at the weekend at Afia 9 mini pitch.

The first 45 minutes ended 2-2, but Substitute Ugwuozor Ekene was the match hero for his side, as his strike from a difficult position left the Asata goalkeeper rooted to a spot in the 74th minute.

All efforts by the Coach Temile tutored side to come back into the game proved abortive as the Abakpa team nullified every attack till end of regulation time.

Speaking exclusively to Power sports correspondent, one of the Organizers, Charlie George, hinted that they encountered slight logistic challenges during the competition, promising that subsequent editions would be bigger and better.

Despite joining the team some few weeks ago, Coach of Golden United FC, Chimezie Vitalis, was indeed satisfied with the performance of his players, adding that they would be improving the team.

On his part, Coach of Denver Football Club of Coal Camp, Saidu Mohammed, thanked the organizers for the championship, stating that the individual awards they got was worth the effort.

Other award recipients are Best goalkeeper: Chidubem Ikwo (Denver FC); Best midfielder: Ugwuozor Ekene (Golden United FC); Best coach, Saidu Mohammed (Denver FC). MVP and Highest Goal scorer, Uchendu Onyeka and he scored 12 goals.

Meanwhile, the one month long competition saw over 90 youngsters from nine teams from different parts of the metropolis jostle for the star prize.

However, the competition which was sponsored by 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, winner, Ejike Uzoenyi dignitaries from far and near who graced the climax of the event include former green eagles captain, Christain Chukwu, Officials of the Enugu State Football Association, Ex Rangers players, Orient FC, Football enthusiast, passersby among others.
