MAIDEN SECURITY SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP SET TO HOLD IN ENUGU

All is now set for the maiden edition of the Security Swimming Championship, scheduled to take place on the 27th June, 2024, in Enugu.

The championship, which is organized by the Enugu State Swimming Association, ESSA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, will witness over 100 swimmers from the different uniform security apparatus in the country.

Speaking in a media parley recently at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Chairman of the Enugu State Swimming Association, Madu Mathias, stated that the championship is aimed at reorient and sensitize the populace on the significance of security in our daily activities, reassuring that the sport will impact positively in human development.

According to the Chairman, participants must be related to any uniform security personnel by blood or relations from any part of the country, and must be able to swim.

On his part, the Enugu State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu represented by the Director of Sports, Ephraim Ochonna reaffirmed that the backing from the Ministry, hinting that such avenues is an opportunity to discover talents that represent the state in major competition.

Meanwhile, the Enugu State Swimming Association has promised that there will be regular competitions especially at the grass root level, so as to revive the swimming culture.
