NPFL TEAMS EMERGE TOPS IN PRESEASON TOURNEY IN ENUGU.

Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL teams, Enugu Rangers and Abia Warriors FC (Umuahia) continue to put up impressive display in the ongoing Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico Select Preseason Championship in Enugu, just as domestic football is set to commence in a few days.

The tourney which is in its sixth edition
kicked off simultaneously in Enugu and Aba centres on Saturday has recorded some exciting and scintillating performances and results from the participating clubs, with the competition set for the knock stage from tomorrow.

over 2023/24 President Federation Cup finalist, Abia Warriors, thrashed Owerri based Nigeria National League side, Diana-Emi FC and edging out Enugu base amateur sides, Great Archivers FC and Ingas FC in almost a one sided affair.

The Imama Amakpakabo led Umuahia club, who be making their debut in this year’s edition of the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF interclub competition, also showed a lot of prospects with some of their latest acquisitions, defeated Ingas FC, Great Archivers FC, Diana-Emi and lost to Enugu Rangers.

With this results, the winner from the Aba centre will trade tackle with runners up from tEnugu in one of Friday’s semifinal games in Aba, while similarly stance in also be taking place in Enugu

The climax of the event which comes up by 4 pm on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium would be between winners from the two semifinal encounter.

Speaking shortly after the end of proceedings for the preliminary stage, Executive Secretary, of the Organizing Committee, Chimaobi Nwabuocha expressed satisfaction over the level participation, reaffirming that the tourney will avail the opportunity to assess and ascertain the mental and physical abilities of the players

The Executive Secretary further hinted that due to financial constraints they could not be able to meet up much incentives for the participating teams.
