SOUTHEAST REGIONAL KARATE TRAINING COURSE COMMENCES IN ENUGU.

All is now set for the maiden edition of the Southeast regional Karate training fiesta course tagged Karate for Peace, scheduled to hold to place at the Indoor Sports Multipurpose Gymnasium Sports Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The program which began Wednesday with the arrival of athletes from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states will run through till Saturday, 28th March, will serve as a platform to discover and nurture the next generation of athletes both in the male and female categories.

The 4-day event fiesta which is sponsored by East chase Aluminum Product Limited in collaboration with the Enugu State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development and Enugu State Karate Association, will definitely create awareness and recognition about the combat sport.

According to the organizers, the aim of the training will equip and prepare athletes, coaches, officials and practitioners in the region on the best global practice in the game, as well as there would be participation by the various states in the kumite and karta events.

They also noted that the training course will also help the  coaches the first opportunity to assess and reassess the mental alertness and condition  of their athletes going into any major championship

Energy FM sports correspondent, Ugochukwu Okeiyi reports that the participants are beaming with confidence that with such kind of programs, the region has what it takes produce World and Olympic champions.
