Organizers of the 2026 Under-15 and Under-21 tennis championship has expressed high optimism that this year’s edition will be unique and highly competitive, while reiterating that the championship will live up to expectations.
They further hinted that the championship will also avail Coaches the opportunity to discover, nurture and mentor the next generation of players that will take the world by storm, is also aimed at exposing and equipping young players with right attitude and responsible individuals in future..
The four day championship which is put together by Prince Victor Uwakwe in collaboration with the Enugu State Tennis Association as well as the Sports Club. will witness participation from the Southeast, Southsouth and Southwest regions.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the competition at the Enugu Sports Club,on on Wednesday, the tennis enthusiast and sponsor of the event, Prince Victor Uwakwe, emphasized on the significance of the tournament.
The sponsor who also shed more light on the development, hinted that they looking forward in making the tournament a national completion whereby player from across the country will be participating.
Meanwhile, the opening ceremony saw players both in the male and female categories from Abia and Edo states, as well as Rivers and Bayelsa, displaying amazing and scintillating skills that thrilled the audience.
Over 90 players are performing in this year’s edition, just as winners, exceptional players will be rewarded with a giant trophy, medals and cash prizes ranging from 60,00, 50,00, 2500 naira respectively.
