Over years, research have proven that culture and tradition plays a major role in the identifyication of a race or people from their geographical area, and so the Nigeria Senior Female Basketball Team Captain (D’Tigress), Adaora Elonu has emphatically stated about the uniqueness of the igbo tribe, highlighting on the significance of education and basketball in the modern-day society.

 She made this disclosure over the weekend at the end of the igbo amaka basketball tour in enugu tagged “O ga di nma” (it will be well) at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

On what her experience is like in this year’s edition of the basketball tour, the 2021 Afrobasket Most Valuable Player hinted that she is indeed impressed with the participation and turnout, commending the parents and guardian for bringing their children and wards to the camp.

 In his words, Charles Daniel, one of the officials at the camp expressed gratitude to the sponsor for bringing such kind of program, hinting that the children were taught the fundamentals of the slam-and-dunk game and they also had fun with their peers.

Also speaking, Ebenezer Ochichi, an undergraduate who started playing basketball about four years ago is indeed thankful and appreciative of the organiser for putting up the event, adding that she learnt a lot and will improve on her game.

However, the event which witnessed heavy down power for hours saw parents, guardians, basketball lovers, coaches, sports enthusiasts, passer-bys within and outside the stadium complex troop in their numbers to catch a glimpse of what the children could do as over 60 kids from different parts of the metropolis that participated went home with basketball sourveneuirs such as bags, shoes, jerseys, deodorants, sanitary wears etc.
