Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association, ESFA, Barrister Tony Ugwu is confident that the newly elected Nigeria Football Federation executives led by former Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau will turn around the fortunes of football in the country.

He made this disclosure on his return from the 78th elective congress held in Benin City, over the weekend at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Speaking to newsmen, the football administrator stated that the Southeast region will definitely benefit in the adpects of grassroots and domestic programs, reaffirming that the wealth of experience the executives have garned over the years will play a major a role.

Reflecting on the how polls fared, the legal luminary hinted that the elections was transparent, free, fair and credible, adding that all the processes and context conform to the global best practices obtainable by Federation of International Football Association, FIFA and Confederation of African Football, CAF, standard.

It would be recalled that Gusau, who was the former Zamfara State Football Chairman, was declared winner of the NFF, elections by defeating Peterside Idah after Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko withdrew from the rerun.
