As the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, gradually enters the final stage of the season, reports making the round suggests that some clubs and their managers are desperately making frantic efforts in manipulating the result of games in some venues.

It was gathered that the NPFL clubs and some referees have set plans in motion ahead of the remaining games of the season so as to influence the outcome in some centres, thereby hampering the growth of the game in the country.

Speaking on the condition of annonimity yesterday, an Abuja based football administrator has called on the Interim Management Committee, IMC, organisers of domestic football in the country, as a matter of urgency to beam their search light on remaining fixtures of the season to ensure the games are not mared with any form of  controversy.

He admonished the IMC to be alert to clamp down on any form irregularities or match fixing by the clubs as the season comes to an end, urging the football body to take decisive disciplinary actions against any person, administrator or club found culpable in the criminal act.

It would be recalled that a similar situation that happened in past when a certain club administrator on record, publicly boasted that he was going to help a fellow  administrator’ club to escape the relegation to the lower division.
