Speaking during the opening ceremony of the 3rd edition of Chief of Naval Staff Under-20 Football competition for both male and female category, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, at the weekend, the President of the AYSOF, Dr. Ahmed Lawal highlighted some of the national completions the Federation would be organizing later in the year.

The President also thanked me sponsor for his immense support and passion towards the hosting of the event, while expressing optimism that the championship will avail talented players the opportunity to discovered and nurtured to stardom.

Also Speaking, the Chief Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogala represented by the Commander Nigeria Navy Ship, Commodore A.O. Odejobi emphasised that the aim of the championship was to promote peace, unity and healthy life style among young people, urging the teams to observe all the protocols of the game and to shun any form of violence or misconduct during tournament.

The 3-week football showpiece will however witness an exhibition of amazing and exciting young generation of soccer stars, just as 30 teams from the 36 states of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory, FCT, jostle for the ultimate prize and the sole ticket to represent the country in a major tournament in Sweden this year.

Meanwhile, in the opening fixtures played yesterday, it was a one sided affair,  as Green Foot Feeders thrashed Immaculate Queens 3-0, while Enugu Rangers Under-19 had to dig deep to  edge pass a resilient and formidable Noble Academy 2-1.

Dignitaries from far and wide that graced the occasion include General Officer Commander, 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General O.T. Olatoye, officers of the Navy, AYSOF Executives, as well as Coaches and Football enthusiasts.

It would be recalled that the Peter Ndubisi Mbah Boys (Enugu) emerged winner in the last edition hosted in Enugu, even as Similayi Fubura Boys (Rivers State) and Babjide Sanwolu Boy (Lagos State) were placed second and third respectively.
