Director Coaching, Enugu State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Ephraim Ochonma has emphasised that it is only through grassroots and developmental programs that talents can only be discovered and nurtured to stardom, adding funding and planning are fundamentals to success.

He made this statement during the ongoing South East Basketball Association, SEBA, Championship for the five eastern states in Enugu.

Speaking exclusively to sportszone correspondent, he applauded the organisers of the competition, adding that the Enugu State Basketball Association is in dire need of financial, physical and mental support.

Comrade Ochonma, who is also the Head Coach of the Enugu State Athletics Association admonishes young and talented players on the part to greatness, reiterating that through sports, one can have a better and brighter future.

Meanwhile, in day 2 fixtures for the morning session, a resilent and dogged team anambra made it back-to-back victories against Team abia and Ebonyi, Coal City Miners (Enugu) are still yet record any victory in the competition as they lost again to Ebonyi (22-23), in the male category

In the female category, team Ebonyi lost their second game against Coal City Queens (Enugu) (20-22) in a closely contested fixture, the girls from Anambra have proven to be a formidable side and cruise control  as they dorminanted play against Imo State (26-16).

However, Team Ebonyi would be going into the final day of the competition after recording two loses, to secure a win against a more coordinated Team Imo, Coal City Queens (Enugu) will take centre court against Anambra in the female category.

The boys category will see an aggressive and and relentless Team Abia against a less fancied and incoherent Coal City Miners (Enugu).
