FC GOLDEN UNITED OPTIMISTIC OF WINNING UNDER-15 FOOTBALL COMPETITION.

Coach of Golden United Football Club of Abakpa, Chimezie Vitalis has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to be crowned champions of this year’s football competition, adding that every team that participated in the competition gave a good account of themselves.

He made this declaration on Wednesday after his side defeated Black Stars of Asata 2-0, at the maiden edition of the Okodochukwu Under-15 Football Competition, at Afia 9 mini pitch, Enugu.

Speaking exclusively to Powersports correspondent after the game, Coach Vitalis hinted that the first 45 minutes witnessed a cautious and careful play as both teams did not want to make any mistake, adding that the adjustments and changes he made in the second half made the difference.

Also Speaking, Captain of the FC Golden United, Chidubem Obasi, who was indeed very excited for reaching the final of the competition, stating that they had to go work extra to achieve the victory.

In the second semifinal game played on Wednesday, Denver Football Club of Coal Camp lost narrowly to Asata United 3-4, in an exciting action-filled encounter as football enthusiasts, traders and residents cheered all through the duration of the match.

On his part, Coach of the Coal Camp side, Saidu Mohammed, praised his players for putting up a resilient performance despite the loss, stressing on the importance of proper screening exercise in subsequent editions of the competition.

However, the climax of the competition which is scheduled for Sunday, 3rd September, 2023 would be between FC Golden United squaring off against Asata United in what promises to be a scintillating and ecstatic football extravaganza at the grassroot.

To this end, Organizer of the competition, 2013 African Cup of Nations winner, Ejike Uzoenyi popularly called Okodo, has promised that as a product of street and local football, he will continue to give back to the society through this platform.
