Vice President of International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF, Enitan Waheed Oshodi has stated that the World Table Tennis, WTT, Contender Lagos, would be an opportunity for players to fine tune their skills ahead of the forthcoming Olympics in Paris, stressing that the tournament will live up to expectations.
He made the statement recently in Lagos, as the some of the country’s players intensifies their preparations for the championship.
According to him, they are excited that the event is growing and attracting the players from different parts of the globe, saying that the quality is awesome and the competition would be tougher.
Reacting to what are the expectations from Nigerian Players, the former Lagos State table tennis boss admitted the competition will serve as a platform for the players to develop and also integrate with their foreign counterparts, while hoping that the Sports Ministry will support them financially.
At least 8 of the top 50 players in the world from Brazil, China, India, and Germany, among others, are expected to arrive in the competition which serves off from June 17th to 23rd at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
