Organizers of the second tier football league in the country, Nigeria National League, NNL, have expressed satisfaction over the statistics recorded in the just concluded regular season, reiterating that the league will continue to set the pace and standard for others to follow.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NNL, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman made this statement during a media parley to kick start the 2023 NNL Super 8 championship, in Enugu, at the weekend.
According to him, in the history of domestic football, the 2023/24 season remains a spectacle as the number of goals scored increased rapidly, more away and home wins were recorded in the four conferences, stating that the tournament will produce teams that will get promotion to the elite division.
Reacting to the concept behind the partnership deal with the NNL, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Sports, Dr. Paul Maduakor, pointed that their focus is the business aspect where the organizers and the clubs will also be generating revenues, while winners from the NNL championship would be rewarded with several endorsement packages.
On his part, Chief Operating Officer of the NNL, Emmanuel Attah, explained the details of the partnership, the duration and other sponsorship packages for the competition.
In Match day one results, in the Northern Conference, El Kanemi Warriors of Maduguri lost 0-1 Nasarawa United FC, Sporting Supreme defeated Sokoto United FC 1-0.
While in the Southern Conference, Beyond Limits FC edged pass Madiba FC 2-1, and the two Lagos based teams, Ikorodu City vs Inter Lagos ended 1-1.
