Team Ngwo emerges champions of the third edition of the Coal City Football League final by defeating Team Obiagu 2-1 at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus Stadium yesterday.
The one-month competition which is tagged “Boolu Ogbe”witnessed teams from different parts of the state, displayed excellent and scintillating football qualities and artistry.
The first 45 minutes ended 1-1 with Team Obiagu taking the lead from the penalty spot through Striker Reinhard Young he was fouled inside the 18-yard box but Substitute Aneke Daniel restored parity for the opponent towards the end of the half.
At the end, it was Team Ngwo who came out tops as Aneke Daniel reacted swiftly to put the ball behinde the back of the net from a defensive blunder by Team Obiagu.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Energy FM sports correspondent, Ugo Okeiyi after encounter, Aneke Daniel was satisfied with the outcome of game, adding that he was very optimistic of scoring for his side..
An excited Cocah of Ngwo FC, Anister stated after his side conceded through a defensive mixup, he had to alternate the formation and tactics.
On his part, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, Donben Chisom congratulated the winners of the tournament, promising that next year’s edition would be better.
However, beneficiaries of different categoreies include Fair play award (Team Abakpa), Best Striker (Oke Uchebo, Team Uwani), Most Disxipline Coach (Nonso Okpene, Team Coalcamp), Young Talented Player (Mark Chinemere, Team GRA), Best Winger (Daniel Ijeh,Team Agbani) among others.
Recall that Team Umuchigbo were crowned champions of the 2021 edition of the competition by outclassing Abakpa 3-0 at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus Stadium.
