Winning every competition is a top priority of every team going into any competition but that depends on the level of preparations, hard work and commitment on the part of the players and coaching staff, and so the Chairman, Enugu State Football Association (ESFA), Barr. Tony Ugwu was thrilled over this year’s state football league, adding that the tournament lived up to expectations.

He made this declaration today after the final match between Flying Angels FC (Uwani) and Inter FC (Independence Layout) at the Rangers International training pitch, Liberty Estate.

Speaking to power sports correspondent, Ugo Okeiyi who monitored the proceedings, the football administrator stated that concluding the state football tournament was part of the association’s agenda for the year, commending the football fraternity in state that contributed in making the competition a success.

Reflecting on the final game, the legal luminary further hinted that both teams displayed scintillating and excellent football artistry with sound technical and tactical abilities, reaffirming that invitation would be extended to teams in the rural areas in subsequent editions.

In his words, Head Coach, Inter FC, Joseph Enah praised his players for their performance and also adhering to instructions, insisting that they will work very hard in the play-offs to gain promotion to the Nigeria League One (NLO).

However, Emma Ogbodo’s solitary finish inside the penalty area in the second half from a defensive mix-up between Flying Angels players, was all FC Inter needed to navigate their way through and be crowned champion of this year’s enugu state football league.

Also in the losers final that was played earlier, Golden Shooters FC (Oji) defeated Star plus (Ngwo) (3-1) on penalties after both sides have ended 2-2 on regulation time.
