The National Sports Commission, NSC, has officially announced that the Main Organizing Committee, MOC, for the 23rd National Sports Festival tagged 2026 Enugu Coal City, will hold tomorrow, April 16th, 2026.
The meeting marks a significant step in the build-up to the festival, will focus on critical areas such as infrastructure readiness, logistics, accommodation, security, media operations and the overall framework for seamless event delivery.
In a statement signed by the Commission’s Director Information and Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Ajayi, FCAI, ANIPR, made available to newsmen yesterday, the Director General of the NSC, Honorable Bukola Olopade, who also serves as Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to delivering a befitting and memorable festival in collaboration with the Enugu State Government.
The Chairman noted that the early commencement of planning reflects the Commission’s determination to ensure a successful outing.
According to him, the enugu state government has continued to demonstrate strong commitment towards hosting a successful festival, with ongoing efforts geared at upgrading sports facilities and putting in place the necessary structures for a hitch-free event

Engrineer Habu Gumel, His Excellency Comrade Philip Shuaibu, Ladan Al- Mustapha, Sunday Odebode, Honorable Adeyinka Adeboye, Mbora Ikana, Dr. ( Mrs.) Kehinde Ajayi, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar, Niyi Beyioku, Bld. Mohammed Rabiu, Barrister Baba Saidu, as members.
Others are; Olufisayo Funke Odiaka, Utobo Emmanuel, Barr.ister Musa Ahmadu, Salisu Abubakar, Ebidowie Oweifie, Seyi Johnson, and Thecla Opara; Committee Secretary and Olumide Bamiduro; Asst. Secretary.
The 2026 Coal City Games will be historic, as it represents the first time the State will host the NSF underscoring growing confidence in the state’s capacity to stage a world-class sporting event.
