The Enugu State Rugby Football Association, ESRFA, has reiterated it’s commitment to the development of the game especially at the secondary school and grass root level,  stating that their growing presence of the game is now expanding across the state.

The Association also admitted the enormous challenges and expectations from the members, while describing the platform as a positive step in redirecting the energy and focus of young people in the society.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration ceremony at the State Secretariat, GRA, yesterday, Chairman of ESRFA, Mr. Amadi Prince Isaac represented by the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, NRFF, South east representative, Onyebuchi Ibegbulam,  raised concerns over the non inclusion of the sports in the forth coming National Sports Festival later in the year.

The South east rep  who is also a member of the Association further expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner, Director of Coaching and other relevant stakeholders that played different roles for the ceremony to hold, pledging that they will swing into action in earnest.

Responding, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Lloyd Ike Ekwermadu, who congratulated the new members, stressed that part of their mandate is to develop and grow the game.

Reflecting on some sports, the Commissioner acknowledged that football, boxing, athletics association have made remarkable strides and self sustaining over time, just as the Ministry will coming in as  partner in supporting their activities.

Meanwhile,  Sunny Amechii will serve as Vice Chairman, ,Mrs Victoria Ishiwu (Secretary), Chukwuebuka Maduaka .(Head Coach), others include Enwerem Edith, Nweke Thankgod Kelechi, Idam Chinedu Ebenezer, Evelyn Agugbo, Kingsley Anozie, Rexie Chijioke. as members
