All is now set for the maiden edition of the Southeast zonal representative meeting, with the theme: how to move sports forward in the Southeast geopolitical zone, will take center stage in the hostoric and iconic city of Enugu

The event which is put together by the National Sports Commission, NSC, in collaboration with the Enugu State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development is scheduled to hold at the zone office  of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Friday, 8th May, 2026.

In a memo signed by the NSC, Southeast Coordinator, Benard Ezema, at the weekend, he expressed deep concern over the deplorable and declining state of sports in the region, while noting some of the challenges such inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, weak administrative structure have adverse affected sports the over past years.

The Southeast Coordinator who further disclosed that critical discussions and resolutions concerning the advancement and growth of sports would be made, reaffirming that absentisim or any form of excuse will not be entertained from any of the  zonal representativ.e

Participants expected include  stakeholders, coaches, sports enthusiasts from the region as well as representation from Abia,Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyu and Imo states in the one-day event.
