The President of Federation of International Basketball Association, FIBA Africa Zone 3, Colonel Sam Ahmedu (Rtd) of Nigeria, has extended his felicitations to the Ghana Basketball Association, GBBA, following the successful conduct of its elective congress held yesterday, in Sunyani, Ghana.
Colonel Ahmedu praised the GBBA, one of the eight National Basketball Federations under FIBA Africa Zone 3, for what he described as an exemplary, transparent and cordial congress that produced a new leadership team for the next four years.
At the congress, seasoned basketball administrator, Alex Kukula, former Vice President for Technical and Development, emerged unopposed as the new President of the Association.
Mr. Ayiteh Bulley, who also serves as Chairman of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 Finance, Marketing and Sponsorship Council and heads the Greater Accra League, was elected Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Other elected officers include Meme Falconer as Vice President for Technical and Ms. Aurora Commodore as Treasurer.
In addition, Mr. Iddrissu Ayambire, Chairman of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 Technical and Competitions Council and former GBBA Vice President, was appointed Honorary President of the Association.
The Congress also named Colonel Sam Ahmedu (Rtd) as an Honorary Member of the GBBA in recognition of his contributions to basketball development in Ghana.
FIBA Africa Zone 3 extended its felicitations to all newly elected Executive Board members and wished them a successful tenure.
