The National Sports Commission, NSC, has announced that it will be inspecting facilities in Enugu State, ahead of the 23rd National Sports Festival tagged 2026 Coal City Games, from 21st through 24th October, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Office of the Director General, NSC, Kola Daniel, NSC, yesterday, the inspection of the facilities is a very significant approach in ensuring standards are met, whereby the competition delivers on its target of best global practices which upholds unity, competition, excellence and talent discovery across the country.
The statement also disclosed that the inspection team will evaluate existing infrastructure, reassess the level of upgrades and formally align and fraternize with the sports community to assure that the state is indeed ready to host the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as fans and visitors across the country.
The Commission thanked the present administration under leadership of Governor Peter Mbah for its dedication and enthusiasm, to delivering a successful biannual competition, noting that the government’s impact is an indication of togetherness and commitment towards progress of the country’s sporting sector.
The NSC reaffirmed its commitment to working hand in hand with Enugu State to deliver a festival that will inspire the nation and leave a lasting legacy.
To this end, the National Sports Festival which has produced amazing and exceptional talents and superstars that have represented that country in major championships remains the country’s Olympic multi-sport event, serving as a breeding ground for champions and a symbol of national unity.
