In a quest to rewrite Nigerian club sides fortunes at the this year’s edition of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competition, the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rivers United Football Club have commenced preparation for the forthcoming championship.

Over the weekend an intensive course which was supervised by FIFA/CAF instructor, Peter Edibi was organized for the players, coaches and officials of the club to keep them abreast with the latest practices and regulations in the round leather game.

Speaking to newsmen after the session, the football tutor described the activity as a preparatory ground for the CAF competition with regards to the basic ammendments, application and interpretation of the law governing the game, reaffirming that the process would be a continuous one.

On his part, Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barrister Chris Green, who was in attendance was very blunt and task the players and officials to go into the competition with the mindset of a conqueror, adding that they are privileged to go through the rudiments of the new rules of the game from an expert.

However, the “Pride of Rivers” will be hoping to transfer that dominance and supremacy at the continental stage as they brace up for the two legged encounter against the Liberian champions, Watanga in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
