The Enugu State Government, through the Ministry for Youth and Sports Development has officially announced that it has concluded plans for a hitch free Enugu City International Marathon.
The Ministry also hinted that the event which is a 10km and 42km race is tagged ” tomorrow runs here” ,will transverse major parts of the metropolis, while urging participants and sports enthusiasts to sieze the opportunity by registering for the annual sports fiesta.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, made the announcement at the State Secretariat, GRA, at the weekend, saying the program would hold on Saturday, 29th August, 2026.
The sports administrator commended the present administration led by Governor Peter Mbah, for it giant strides and impacts in the sector, reiterating that it remains committed in delivering a world class event later in the year,.
He further disclosed that there would be financial rewards for the winners in the various categories, stressing that the state is gradually becoming a premier destination for sports and tourism.
