The National Sports Commission has voiced it’s contentment over the facilities that will host the 2026 National Sports Festival tagged Coal City Games in Enugu State, reaffirming the state’s level of preparedness in hosting the country for the forthcoming multi sports event.
The NSC further explained that some of the venues are quite big and spacious enough to contain more players and games simultaneously, describing the quality and spate of the ongoing works at the various arenas as impressive and commendable.
The Director General, Honorable Bukola Olopade represented by the Director of National Sports Festival, Mrs. Thecla Opara,, who led an inspection committee, made the comment shortly after the inspection exercise, on Wednesday, at the International Conference Center, ICC, Enugu
According to her, the ICC which will host games such as Taekwondo, Wrestling and Weightlifting, is on good shape with a massive atmosphere, while expressing optimism that by the end of the first quarter of next year, the state will be almost ready for the Festival.
Also Speaking,the Executive Secretary of Local Organizing Committee, LOC, for 2026 NSF, Bamiduro Olumide,thanked the Commission for the opportunity granted to the state as the next host of the event, emphasizing that plans and arrangements are ongoing in ensuring a hitch free tournament when hostilities takes center stage in the state.
He acknowledged that the state is rich in culture, traditional and tourism, as well as the hub off the Eastern part of the country, adding that its hospitality and serenity.will witness the influx of so many visitors from across the country.
On his part, NSC Southeast Coordinator, Benard Ezema, restated that they are working relentlessly and closely with Enugu State Government to deliver a championship that will inspire me nation and leave a lasting legacy.
Meanwhile, the inspection tour took the committee to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu Sports Club the Parliament Building of the Post-Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), the College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) and the Sports Council
