Tournament Director of the 2024 FC Bayern Youth Cup (Nigeria), Victor Obinna Edeh, says he is satisfied about the level of participation and competition at this year’s edition of the program, adding that his vision and passion for young talented footballers, is to become next generation of superstars.

He made the statement at the closing ceremony of the talent football program, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, at the weekend.

According to him, plans are ongoing to launch a global soccer academy that will accommodate over 100 kids from different parts of the country, revealing that they would also be organising some international competitions where some top European football academies would be participating.

The football administrator recalled that no Nigerian has played for FC Bayern and as a result of previous programs he coordinated in different parts of the world, the German Club deemed it fit to get involved in the Nigerian project.

On his part, National Under-20 Head Coach, Ladan Issa Bosso, stated that the federation approved of his invitation, after receiving a call from the organizer, while emphasizing on the significance of continuity and sustainability for the future.

Reacting to whether products from such programs can fit into the next generation of the national teams, the experienced tactician recalled that he was persistent on his team for the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, despite the criticism, also noting that their primary target is to see to talented players developed and nurtured to stardom.

The 2-day program, organized in collaboration with the VOE foundation, witnessed over 150 players with 10 teams from different parts of the country participating.

The hallmark of the event was the selection of FC Bayern, Team Nigeria, who will be defending their title, in this year’s World FC Bayern Championship in Germany, scheduled to take place in October.
