As the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season ended on sunday, the Secretary Rangers Management Cooperation, Barrister Ferdinand Emeka Ugwuara is optimistic that the League Management Company (LMC) will definitely improve on the standard and quality of the league, adding that cooperate bodies and football stakeholders should be actively involve in the growth of the game.

The just concluded season which kicked off in December witnessed some exciting and excellent football artistry from the 20-team log with Rivers Utd crowned champions of the league while Plateau Utd (Jos) and Remo Stars FC (Ikene) would also be flying the country’s flag at the forthcoming season of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Tournaments.

Ugwuara made this disclosure today In an exclusive interview with sportszone.com.ng correspondent at the Club’s Cooperation Office, GRA, noted that despite the challenges that were encountered during the season, the league ended well devoid of dispute, rancour or been abridged.

The legal luminary further revealed that the decision by the management for the club to use the nnewi stadium as the home ground for the “flying antelope” was because the club signifies the identity of the igbo’ race and it was believed that they will get more support for the locals on any match day, emphasising that the team struggled in nnewi as a result of bad state of the playing pitch.

Reflecting on the quality of players that was recruited by the seven-time NPFL champions at the start of the season, the vibrant football administrator reiterated that Super Eagles Head Coach, Salisu Yusuf and Mangut Mbwas did a very good job by assembling the best legs, explaining some of the factors that can hamper player’s performance.

Recall that Enugu Rangers was formed immediately after the war in 1970, one of the three oldest clubs in Nigerian football with the other two as Insurance (Benin), Kano Pillars and the only club that has not been relegated to the second tier of Nigerian football.
