The newly elected Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Enugu Chapter, Gideon Iwueke of Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria (FRCN) has promised that the new executives would work together in building the reputation of the association in the state.
He made this statement after emerging victorious in the polls that was conducted and supervised under the watchful eyes of the interim electoral leadership headed by Chief Andrew Nebedum (GO uni radio), at the Enugu State Football Office (ENSFA), Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

In his address, the Chairman acknowledged the series of challenges and setbacks the association has encountered in the past which had stagnated and hampared it’s impact in the state but assured that under his watch the association would would reunite, reintegrate and coordinate activities for it’s members.

Responding to the expectations from the new executives, SWAN, South east Vice President, Mrs. Chigozie Chukwulota, hinted that Enugu had been the bedrock of the region and was in dire need to have SWAN representation after three years in exile, urging the excos to bring life back into the association.
On his part, Head of the Interim electoral Committee, Chief Andrew Nebedum expressed satisfaction over outcome of the elections, admonishing the electoral members to take the association to a greater height.

Meanwhile, the long awaited elections that had several months and weeks of postponement was carried out under a free, fair, credible and codusive atmosphere saw Gideon Iwueke polling a total of 16 votes while Nicholas Obisike (News Agency of Nigeria) had 7votes.
However, other executives that were elected unopposed include Chinedu Ikpechukwu (SUN newspaper) Vice Chairman, Sebastine Adonu (Vanguard newspaper) Secretary while Chibuike Peter (Solid FM) and Chibuzor Nwoye (Enugu State Broadcasting Station) as Assistant Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
