The Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions is one of the biggest football showpiece in the continent because of its massive fan base, lucrative endorsement deals and dominant presence on social media, the Secretary, Rangers Management Cooperation, Barrister Ferdinand Emeka Ugwuara has emphatically stated that the club’s target is to play continental football next season.

Despite executing all its home games in the the just concluded 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in Nnewi and Awka, the organisers of the league rated Enugu Rangers as one of the best teams in the league because of its professionalism and sportsmanship attributes.

In the concluding part of the exclusive interview with power sports correspondent, Ugo Okeiyi yesterday at Cooperation’s Office, GRA, Ugwuara hinted that for some years now the league has been operating without any sponsor, reaffirming that the forthcoming season will experience something better and brighter.

Responding to the chances of the team ahead of the AIETO/Federation Cup, the administrator reiterated that despite the abysmal performance of some the players and technical challenges within the system, the club’s primary target is to clinch the sole spot as one of the representatives in the annual continental competition.

Finally, he applauded and appreciated the fans, supporters and football loving people of enugu within and outside the state for their prayers, unwavery and steadfast support, promising that the club will not disappoint them.

However, after 38 games in the season Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC, Heartland FC (Owerri), Kano Pillars and Katsina United were relegated to the second tier of the league while Enugu Rangers ended in the 5th position with 56 points.
